24 Hours, 11 Golfers, One Incredible Community
2026 VCHWF 24-Hour Golf Challenge Raises $29,239 for Palliative Care
What happens when eleven golfers commit to playing golf for 24 continuous hours?
In Vulcan County, it becomes a powerful demonstration of community spirit, determination, generosity, and support for local healthcare.
The 2026 VCHWF 24-Hour Golf Challenge concluded on June 20 with participants raising an impressive $29,239.00 in support of the Palliative Care Project at the Vulcan Community Health Centre.
Since the Foundation began supporting the project, community fundraising efforts have now contributed $243,277.42 toward creating a more comfortable and compassionate environment for patients and families receiving palliative care close to home.
For those who have never experienced the challenge, it is difficult to describe. Participants golf through the day, into the night, and through the early morning hours, testing both their endurance and their sense of humour while building friendships and creating memories that last long after the final putt drops.
Yet ask any of the golfers what makes the challenge special, and most will tell you it has very little to do with golf.
It is about community.
Behind every golfer is an incredible network of supporters. Donors contribute to their fundraising efforts. Volunteers ensure players are fed, encouraged, and cared for throughout the event. Sponsors provide resources that make the challenge possible. Friends, family members, and community members cheer participants on as the hours stretch into the night.
As one participant reflected afterward:
“There was a lot of volunteering that happened to make this fundraiser work. Massages, concierge, baking, donated food, behind-the-scenes volunteers — it all made it an incredible experience for the participants. We’d like to send out a thank you to everyone.”
Another returning challenger summed it up this way:
“Incredible!! So happy to be included again, and really can’t say thank you enough. Thank you to everyone who helped us leading up to and during the challenge. We couldn’t do it without you!”
Those comments capture the true spirit of the event.
The success of the 24-Hour Golf Challenge belongs not only to the golfers who played through the night, but also to the many volunteers, donors, sponsors, businesses, and community supporters who stepped forward to help. From preparing food and providing hospitality to offering massages, coordinating logistics, taking photographs, and handling countless tasks behind the scenes, every contribution helped create a memorable and meaningful experience.
The Vulcan County Health & Wellness Foundation extends its sincere gratitude to each of the eleven golfers who accepted this year’s challenge, to everyone who supported them through donations, and to the many volunteers and sponsors who made the event possible.
Together, they have demonstrated once again that rural communities accomplish extraordinary things when they work together.
The funds raised will directly support the Palliative Care Project at the Vulcan Community Health Centre, helping ensure patients and families have access to compassionate care close to home when they need it most.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the 2026 24-Hour Golf Challenge such a tremendous success.
And if this year’s challenge inspired you, consider joining us next year.
Save the date: June 18–19, 2027.
The challenge continues, and there’s always room for another golfer willing to test their endurance in support of rural healthcare.
Thank you to the Vulcan Golf and Country Club staff and volunteers for their partnership and support, which make our Charity Golf Classic and the 24-hour Golf Challenge such a success. The Power of Community -We’re Better Together
