Jim McNiven

VCHWF Ambassador Volunteer, retired Trustee

I joined The Vulcan County Health and Wellness Foundation as one of the founding members at the request of Scott Mitchell. His passion for the Health and Wellness of our Community is contagious.

I am a retired farmer living northwest of Vulcan with my wife Cathie on the family farm.  My family on my mother and father’s sides have lived here in Vulcan’s County for over one hundred years.  We live on a farm where my grandparents lived and raised their children.  Our children were raised here and went to school in Vulcan, as did I.  My younger son and my daughter and son-in-law have taken over the farming operations.

The VCHW Foundation was formed when it was possible that Vulcan could lose its Hospital.  My goal is to see the Hospital become a stable and active part of the County.  With the new building and new wellness programs to be developed, I hope to see the Hospital as a vibrant hub for the next thirty years and beyond.
